Prepare to be inspired! I was amazed by how much information Dr. Bacher packed between two covers without making the book feel arduous or dense. Being Human pulls from so many realms of knowledge and guides us towards a bright way of living.
Read this. I mean, just read it. It’s short, to the point, and the vision is soooooo right-headed. There’s room to argue the particulars, and I found much with which I disagreed. But the intention is so clear, so spelled out, and at a nice breezy cadence. If your experience is anything like mine, you will find yourself expanded, reflective, and interested in a world – way past a zero-sum game – where we can all get more out of life. Thanks for putting yourself out there Dr. Bacher. Your book may be against the grain, but it nestles extremely well into the rational and intuitive mind. Read it.

Our education system is broken. Our teachers are underpaid and underserved. Our children are not learning the skills they need to be competitive in the 21st century. We need our schools’ education systems to recognize, value, and cultivate the various forms of human intelligence equally. What if we used the most important things in life — mental and physical health, happiness, love, relationships, emotional regulation, healthy communication, community involvement, self-care — as a mold for our education system?
HUMAN CAPITAL
Workers are the most important part of any business or organization—the most valuable asset. The pressures to put profit before everything else, including what is decent and right, has led to a culture of greed and de-humanization of workers, where the average CEO now makes between 500 to 1000 times what the average worker makes. It is time to change the way we treat the most important parts of business life.
QUALITY GOODS
Consumerism has consumed us. We engage in retail therapy in order to make us feel better about ourselves. But as we self-soothe through the consumption of goods, we should be aware of the impact we are having. We destroy our planet, waste insane amounts of natural resources, and create unimaginable amounts of waste and pollution. We help engage in some of the worst human rights abuses, censor free speech, continue to build the most massive military-industrial complex in history, and drive genocidal movements around the world. We need a new way to meet our needs.

Creativity and ingenuity are two of the most important aspects of what it means to be human. It is a gift which should be recognized, celebrated and shared with the world around us. Over the last century governments and institutions have stolen, seized, and hoarded secret knowledge and discoveries which could literally change and save the world.
